Happy Canada Day 2014!

A year ago we were in Airdrie, Alberta enjoying the Canada Day festivities in between moving preparations.
Today we are in Charlottetown,  PEI -the birthplace of Canadian Confederation - taking in their celebrations.
Life is good.
It's the 150th anniversary of the talks that forged the idea of Canada. It would be three years before Canada became a reality, but today PEI celebrates both with a great big party! Kids activities, music, fun and fireworks this evening.

Everywhere I look I see people wearing red &white, and flags proudly displayed. We are a nation proud. And, from everything I have seen during our travels, we are a nation to be proud of.

Happy Canada Day everyone!

  2. Happy Canada Day!!! Interesting bit of trivia - the Canada flag was not created until the 1960's...hard to imagine with all of the red and white proudly displayed today that the symbol and colours are relatively new. Have a great day everyone! Chaymie

    1. Hey Chaymie! It's been really neat learning all these history tidbits as we travel. Sometimes I wish I'd paid more attention in Social Studies, although this is a much more interesting way to learn!
